Cunningham Capital was founded with the aim to provide an authentic approach to finding banking solutions for your business. With a career working with high net worth individuals, family-owned and mid-market corporate businesses;
Managing Director Hugh Sweeney launched Cunningham to enable clients access to a full suite of banking institutions and financial products.
At Cunningham we do a full assessment of your business and senior management to tailor efficient capital structures.
Through brokering with us we will make sure you have what you need
and help you get what you want to enhance the possibility of achieving business goals.
By the time we complete the assessment and transaction information memorandum,
this will emulate a full banking application that any institution should be able to come to a fast decision on.
This includes a full outline of your business, the rationale behind the application including key metrics,
financial modelling both historical and forecast, sensitivity analysis, market insights,
and other analytics specific to your application.
With a wide network of bankers throughout the Australian Banking system, Cunningham will find the right funding partner for your business, taking into account product and price, as well as ensuring that your end client manager is suited to your industry and most importantly your management style.
Why the name Cunningham…
As with sailing, a boat must shift with weather conditions; adjustments made in order to keep control. The same goes with business and strategy. We must forecast, review, and maintain our vessel to protect both the ship and crew.
The Cunningham is a key sheet (rope) that assists in controlling a boat. When there is too much pressure on or the configuration of the boat is not right it begins to list and tip out of control. The Cunningham will open the top of the sail to allow air to spill, releasing pressure “righting the ship”.

About our Managing Director - Hugh Sweeney
Starting his career working with high net wealth families in private advisory, MD Hugh Sweeney (CA) has over 10+ years experience in the banking and finance sector, including Deloitte Private, ANZ and CBA. Hugh is passionate about supporting Australian businesses to achieve their goals.
His experience at Australia’s largest banks provides a unique insight into the decision making process, allowing Cunningham to ask the tough questions on behalf of your business. The most common sentiment we receive from our clients is that they just didn’t realise how much better it could be.
His experience focuses largely on mid-market and emerging corporate entities with turnovers of between $50m - $500m and structured debt requirements between $5m- $100m. Hugh’s mantra is that “business must be a mix of personal and professional understanding”.
